Dr. Martha Estrada has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock as an assistant professor in the Division of Transplant Surgery in the College of Medicine’s Department of Surgery. Estrada will specialize in liver, kidney and pancreas transplants, general surgery, hepatobiliary procedures and dialysis. Dr. Wen Chien Hsi has joined the Department of Radiation Oncology at UAMS as an associate professor of physics. Hsi will specialize in proton beam radiation therapy at the Proton Center of Arkansas, a partnership of UAMS, Arkansas Children’s, Baptist Health and Proton International.

April Kranz ( Conway Regional Health System)

April Kranz has been hired as the chief nursing officer at Conway Regional Health System. Kranz was chosen after a nationwide search and will serve as the nursing leader for the health system to improve efficiency, quality and engagement.

Lisa Lightner ( Washington Regional)

Lisa Lightner has been named vice president of human resources at Washington Regional of Fayetteville. Lightner, who joined Washington Regional in 2012, will manage the health system’s talent acquisition, compensation, training and development, employee health and human resources operations.

Lauren Thomas ( Baptist Health)

Lauren Thomas has joined the Baptist Health Sleep Clinic of Little Rock. Thomas is an advanced practice registered nurse and joins the team of sleep medicine providers at the clinic.

Cynthia Coughlin ( US Marshals Museum)

Cynthia Coughlin has been appointed to the U.S. Marshals Museum Foundation board of directors. Coughlin, who has run Coughlin’s Ranch in Centerton since 1984, is the 20th member of the board and has community service experience.

Alexis Freeman has been hired as a community partnership manager for City Year Little Rock. Freeman was previously working as an admission recruitment coordinator for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Marlie Mehu has been hired as a learning and experience manager. Mehu previously taught English language arts at Sylvan Hills Middle School.


The Arkansas Institute for Performance Excellence elected three new board members in December: Jason Lind, co-president and CEO at J.V. Manufacturing of Springdale; Martin Eggensperger, president of Black River Technical College in Pocahontas; and Jose Echavarria, CEO of Northwest Medical Center of Springdale. Each will serve a three-year term and will help plan programs and services, including the Governor’s Quality Award program.
