A public auction of tax-delinquent land in Pulaski County will be held at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock at 10 a.m. July 22. The Commissioner of State Lands Office provides a catalog of tax-delinquent land that contains the rules and regulations governing the sales. It is available by calling (501) 324-9422.

BlueInGreen of Fayetteville, a company that provides methods for dissolved gas treatment of water systems, has received a two-year $750,000 grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, a division of the National Institutes of Health, to study the cost-effective removal of pharmaceutical residuals from wastewater using a new hyperozonation technology.

Celerit Solutions, a Little Rock based IT outsourcing company serving community banks, said the Bank of Delight has chosen to renew its agreement. In addition to core account processing, the new long-term contract will provide a Web site, an Internet banking system and other upgrades.

Two University of Arkansas centers – the Center for Management & Executive Education in the Sam M. Walton College of Business and the Office of Human Resources – are sponsoring The Disney Institute Keys to Excellence. The full-day professional development program will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 18.  E-MDs of Austin, Texas, a health care software developer, has cited Saline Memorial Hospital at Benton for establishing a community health information exchange. The program is being operated through e-MDs’ digital database of patient medical information for sharing within the hospital and ambulatory network.

The Arkansas Farm Bureau will hold its 60th Officers & Leaders Conference July 21-22 at the Holiday Inn & Northwest Arkansas Convention Center Hotel at Springdale. "The Landscape of Arkansas" is the theme of the meeting. Speakers include Rep. John Boozman, R-Ark., and nature photographer Tim Ernst.

 The Central Arkansas Library System will hold a public meeting to discuss the progress of the new library in the Otter Creek area at 7 p.m. July 14 at the Otter Creek Racquet Club, 14000 Otter Creek Parkway. Allison Architects, architecture firm for the project, will receive suggestions on ways the 13,000-SF building might be used by the public. Construction is expected to begin this winter.

The Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza, the nation’s largest amateur big bass tournament, has been rescheduled for Aug. 1-3 because of excessive water flows on the Arkansas River. All current tournament registrations will be honored for the new dates. For more information, visit www.arkansasbigbass.com.

North Arkansas Regional Medical Center at Harrison has been awarded accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists, based on the results of a recent on-site inspection. NARMC also recently received a new Coulter LH 700 series analyzer for routine and emergency blood cell counts and analyses on platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells, including nucleated red blood cells that can indicate early stages of disease.

Metal Central, the retail division of Central States Manufacturing Inc. of Lowell, has opened a second retail location at Springdale. Metal Central provides metal building components, estimating services and contractor referral services for commercial and residential customers.

The Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce/Associated Industries of Arkansas Small Business Council will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 17 at the State Chamber Building. Baptist Health Medical Center at Little Rock is offering a new minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis symptoms. LSS is a common spinal problem suffered mainly by people over 50 and is often associated with leg, buttock, groin and, sometimes, back pain. An X-STOP device is implanted during a procedure that takes about 30 to 45 minutes and has been clinically proven to relieve the symptoms of LSS.

Fikes Truck Line of Hope recently won the Corporate Fleet Safety Award from the Arkansas Trucking Association. The number of reportable accidents in Arkansas determines the award, and Fikes recorded no reportable accidents in Arkansas in 2007. 

Corning has been certified as an Arkansas Community of Excellence, an effort by the Arkansas Economic Development Commission to help communities develop a strategic plan that focuses on economic growth. Corning’s plan focuses on education, parks and recreation, agriculture and agri-business, beautification and business retention.
