Rick Fahr, publisher of the Log Cabin Democrat newspaper in Conway, resigned Friday morning.
Fahr confirmed his resignation to ArkansasBusiness.com, but declined to answer questions.
A Log Cabin Democrat story reports that his resignation was "effective immediately" and he was leaving "to pursue other opportunities." The newspaper did not name a replacement.
Fahr served as the publisher of the 132-year-old daily newspaper, owned by Morris Publishing Group of Augusta, Ga., since 2010. He joined the Log Cabin Democrat as editor in 2007.
"I appreciate Morris Communications for giving me the opportunity to serve as publisher,” Fahr said, according to the Log Cabin Democrat story. "The past several years gave me the chance to check a box on my personal 'bucket list,' and I am grateful for that. The Log Cabin is poised for great things, and I am confident the staff and the next leader will build upon our recent successes."
The change comes as the newspaper settles into its new office in downtown Conway. The newly renovated space is in Federal Plaza at 1111 Main St. Morris sold the newspaper's previous home for $665,000 to Covington Properties of Conway.
Morris owns 12 daily newspapers. The Log Cabin is the only newspaper it owns in Arkansas.
