Bob Shell to Receive Vision Award from World Services for Blind

Bob Shell, president and CEO of Baldwin & Shell Construction of Little Rock, will be honored Wednesday with the Vision Award from the World Services for the Blind Foundation.

The award annually recognizes a prominent Arkansan who has demonstrated a personal commitment to community service.

The award ceremony will take place at the DoubleTree Hotel beginning at 11:30 a.m. Past award recipients include Fitz Hill of Arkansas Baptist College, Jo Luck of Heifer International and Little Rock real estate developer Jimmy Moses.

Shell, president of Baldwin & Shell since 1983, pioneered construction management in Arkansas, leaving the bid market and focusing its energies on landing negotiated contracts. His time with the company dates to 1953.

Shell is one of five charter members of the Arkansas Construction Hall of Fame and was named Arkansas Business Executive of the Year in 1990.

Shell is on the board of the Baptist Health Foundation, the Associated General Contractors of America, Alzheimer’s Arkansas, UALR Construction Advisory, Arkansas Associated General Contractors, Arkansas Associated General Contractors Manpower and Training, and Centennial Bank.

He is a past president and former board member of 50 for the Future, the Arkansas Associated General Contractors, Baptist Health Foundation, Arkansas Arthritis Association, Pulaski Academy, Little Rock Board of Adjustments and the UALR Foundation.

In 1995, Shell was presidential appointee to the White House Conference on Small Business and was also appointed to the Economic Conference of the President and Vice President.
