Arkansas State Trustees Consider Campus in Queretaro, Mexico

1 min read

MOUNTAIN HOME — Arkansas State University trustees have agreed to negotiations that could lead to an ASU campus in Mexico.

The board meeting Friday in Mountain Home approved the proposal for officials from the ASU-Jonesboro campus to negotiate to establish the campus in Queretaro, Mexico.

ASU system President Charles Welch said the campus would be self-sustaining and provides an opportunity for the university to raise its profile nationally and internationally. Welch says both the ASU faculty Senate and the Student Government Association have endorsed the project.

Queretaro Gov. Jose Calzada Rovirosa and a delegation of government and business officials from the Mexican state visited Jonesboro in September.
