Chinese Paper Company Still Negotiating With Southern Arkansas Towns for Plant

So whatever happened to that big Chinese pulp plant we confidently reported to be headed for south Arkansas?

Camden or Arkadelphia, we said. Just weeks away, we said, and that was back at the beginning of February.

So what gives?

Fair question. And here’s the answer.

Our spies say Shandong Sun Paper Industry still plans to invest about $1 billion in building a plant employing 350 in one of those two towns for the purpose of producing paper pulp to be exported back to China.

Settling on a location has proven harder than anticipated because (we’re told) Arkadelphia wasn’t giving up without a fight.

Hang tight.
