Arkansas Foodbank Reopens At New Site in Dumas

The Arkansas Foodbank has announced the reopening of the Dumas Community Food Pantry at a new location in Desha County.

The pantry has moved to the former Arkansas National Guard armory building at 901 E. Choctaw St., which the pantry shares with the Dumas Fire Department.

At its peak, the former pantry location served 100 people weekly. Dumas Mayor James Berry suggested that the new 2,000-SF location, which is open from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Fridays, has the potential to serve twice as many.

“After becoming mayor, I could tell we were underserving the need for the community with the old food pantry … but now we are able to reach out to more citizens who desperately need the help and food,” Berry said in an Arkansas Foodbank news release.
