UCA Buys Lighting for Sports Fields

1 min read

The University of Central Arkansas is purchasing $345,000 worth of lighting equipment and installation services from Techline Sports Lighting LLC of Austin, Texas, for three of the university’s sports fields in Conway.

Jeff Pitchford, UCA vice president of university and government relations, said lighting for a dual-purpose track and soccer complex will cost $190,000, and the remaining $155,000 is for lights at two new intramural fields.

The track and soccer complex lighting is more expensive, Pitchford explained, because the university is following the NCAA’s standards for the site.

Techline, founded in 1995, currently has 25 employees. Mike Helton, Arkansas sales manager, said the company does business worldwide, with projects that range in cost from $80,000 to $4.5 million.

Techline’s state-funded customers in Arkansas benefit from the company’s status as a vendor with the Texas Arkansas Purchasing System. TAPS conducts competitive bidding processes and identifies quality vendors. This, in turn, expedites purchases by eliminating customers’ need to individually solicit bids.

This isn’t the first time UCA has worked with Techline, which also installed lights at the university’s Estes Stadium in 2011.

The company has installed lighting at more than 30 Arkansas high schools, colleges and city sports complexes.
