The Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce is working with the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and a local company on an $8 million upgrade that would allow the enterprise to rehire up to 140 workers over the next three to five years.
Bo Gregory, the chamber’s director of economic development, wasn’t ready to reveal the name of the company. He assures that “it’s a matter of how we’re going to get it done.”
Nearer to completion, however, are plans by Legend Boats, a maker of bass boats in Midway (Baxter County), for a $1.2 million expansion and an additional 30 jobs, Gregory said. The Baxter County Quorum Court has signed off on the plans, which include a rebate on state sales taxes paid by Legend on any building materials bought in the county, he said.
