Arkansas businesses receive recognition:
• The Arkansas Farm Bureau is being recognized as a “Friend” of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food & Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. In addition, Farm Bureau Executive Vice President Ewell Welch, who is retiring at the end of 2013, is receiving a Distinguished Service Award from the college. Welch and Farm Bureau will both be recognized and honored in a ceremony at University House on campus at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
• Beall Barclay & Co. PLC of Fort Smith recently marked its 50th anniversary. The company celebrated the event with open houses at its Fort Smith and Rogers offices.
• Entergy Corp. of Little Rock has been named one of the nation’s top 10 utilities in economic development by Site Selection magazine for the sixth consecutive year.
• Acxiom Corp. of Little Rock has won a People’s Choice Stevie award for Favorite New Products as well as a Silver Stevie award in the competition at large at the American Business Awards in San Francisco.
• Arkansas Research Alliance in Little Rock has signed a partnership intermediary agreement with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. Under the agreement, the FDA will work with ARA to provide technology-related assistance to Arkansas-based research institutions and to identify agency-developed technology that may be potential candidates for commercialization.
• Mainstream Technologies of Little Rock is on the 2013 Inc. 5000 List, ranking No. 6 among all Arkansas companies. This is the second consecutive year that Mainstream has appeared on the list.
• Arkansas Medicaid and the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care in Little Rock have released $2.02 million in performance bonus payments to 16 Arkansas hospitals as part of the Inpatient Quality Incentive program. This is the seventh year that IQI has presented the incentive payments to hospitals.
• Arkansas State University in Jonesboro was accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission for three of its discipline-specific degree programs. The three bachelor’s degree programs at ASU’s College of Engineering are for civil, electrical and mechanical engineering.
• Sage Partners, a commercial real estate firm in Fayetteville, has formed a new company, Sage Asset Solutions. The company will focus on strategic asset managing, such as evaluating a property’s needs and establishing financial objectives.
• Dovetail Insurance of Columbia, S.C., is expanding its NetComp workers’ compensation insurance to Arkansas and adding independent agencies to its roster to service Arkansas businesses for both workers’ compensation and its business owners policy insurance.
• Ambassadors for the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce recently cut the ribbon for The Vet Clinic on Coley Drive.
• The Port of West Memphis recently opened a new 30,000-SF storage and shipment warehouse. The $5 million facility, built by Kinder Morgan, will serve as a distribution hub for fertilizer.
• The West Memphis Economic Development office in West Memphis received three awards at the annual conference of the Southern Economic Development Council in Tulsa. The awards were for a website promoting the RiverRail Logistics Hub at the Port of West Memphis, a smartphone app and a video promoting West Memphis to Chinese industries.
• Jack F. See Jr. of Wittenberg Delony & Davidson Architects of Little Rock was recognized as the Education Planner of the Year by the southern region of the Council for Educational Facility Planners International in Scottsdale, Ariz. See was recognized for his service on Arkansas’ Facilities Task Force and as a leader of WD&D’s education planning and design studio.
