UCA Names New Deans For Three of Its Colleges

The University of Central Arkansas in Conway has named new deans for three of its colleges.

Terry Wright will be dean of the College of Fine Arts & Communication. He has most recently served as interim dean of the college.

He has taught at UCA since 1985 in both the department of English and the department of writing where he is currently a writing professor. He taught in UCA’s Honors College for 20 years including classes in film studies, new media studies, poetry, science fiction and horror fiction. He has taught poetry at the Arkansas Governor’s School and film studies at Hendrix College, where he was a visiting professor of art.

Stephanie Bellar was named dean of UCA’s Graduate College.

She currently serves as interim dean of the University of Tennessee’s Graduate School in Chattanooga and has more than a decade of administrative experience in graduate education. She will also receive an appointment as a tenured professor in UCA’s department of political science.

Stephen Addison has been named dean of UCA’s College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics. He has served as interim dean of the college for the past two years.

Addison joined UCA’s department of physics and astronomy in 1984 and became a professor in 2003. He served as an assistant dean starting in 1995, then was an associate dean from 2000 to 2003. He was chair of the physics and astronomy department in 2002 and served in that role until being named interim dean in 2012.
