1 min read

Susan Smith was recently named a National Association of Corporate Directors fellow. The distinction is the highest for corporate directors and corporate governance professionals. The fellowship program is renewable on an annual basis.

“We are extremely proud of Susie and her most recent accomplishment of completing the NACD’s Fellowship Program,” said George A. Makris Jr., chairman and CEO of Simmons First National Corp. “She is a tremendous asset and leader for our organization and our board, and is very deserving of this designation. The insights she has gained and will continue to gain through this program will be invaluable to our organization as we continue to expand as well as to the other boards which she serves.”

Smith joined Simmons First National Corp. when it acquired her previous employer, Metropolitan National Bank in 2013 and is now secretary of the Simmons board of directors. Smith is also chairman of the board at Delta Dental of Arkansas, board member at Renaissance Health Services Corp., president of the Downtown Little Rock Partnership and a board member of the Arkansas Commitment leadership program and Arkansas Bankers Association. She previously served on the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce board and as St. Vincent Foundation board chair and finance committee chair. Smith received her bachelor’s degree in business administration accountancy from Washington University in St. Louis.
