A-State Names Fowler Center Interim Director, Department Co-Chairs

Les Christensen, director of the Bradbury Art Museum, has been named interim director of the Fowler Center at Arkansas State University.

Also, Associate Professor Tim Bohn and Assistant Professor Marc Williams will share duties as co-chairs of the Department of Theatre.

Christensen will take over management of the entire facility, including Riceland Hall, the Drama Theatre and the Simpson Theatre, while working closely with the Art + Design, Music and Theatre Department’s leadership

Christensen succeeds Interim Director Michael Bowman, who returned has returned to the classroom.

She joined A-State after completing bachelor’s of fine arts degree in sculpture at the University of Iowa and a year of graduate school at the Rijksuniversiteit te Utrecht in the Netherlands. Christensen earned her master’s degree in sculpture from A-State in 1993.

She also taught classes in the Department of Art + Design in the 1990s before being named director of the museum in 2001.

Bohn has been teaching and directing theater productions at A-State since 2008, and has been serving as chair for the past two years. He completed his master’s of fine arts degree at the University of North Carolina.

Williams earned his bachelor’s in theater from Mary Washington College and his master’s of fine arts degree in directing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has professional experience in directing and is certified as an actor combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors.
