People go to the gym with all sorts of goals in mind, but the efforts all stem from the same inspiration: the drive for self-improvement. The same holds true for the people who help keep these busy health centers running.
ABC Financial is a technology provider for athletic clubs across the country, operating out of its offices in Sherwood. ABC offers marketing tools, member databases and other types of software that make the fitness industry operate much more smoothly, and it’s a business that has expanded quickly, something that often has potential for growing pains, but instead has turned out positively.
“Due to our rapid growth, we have grown together and built a great work family. We all have people here who support us, care about us and help us grow,” said Alison Andrews, ABC’s recruiting and performance supervisor.
ABC’s efforts to help people improve start first at the home base. Not surprisingly, health-focused benefits are a high priority. Employees can partake in on-site yoga classes, gym memberships, a smoking cessation program, bike rides, fun runs, complimentary fruit baskets and even take advantage of desk treadmills. But because everyone needs a little balance in life, ABC also hosts Food Truck Fridays for employees.
ABC Financial also offers plenty of rewards for good work. Not only are employees eligible for ongoing performance bonuses, but the company assists with tuition reimbursement, leadership workshops and continuing education, while also working with disability firms to recruit disabled candidates for its work-from-home staff.
ABC believes a piece of that self-improvement happens outside the headquarters’ walls, holding donations and drives for local charities like homeless shelters, tornado victims and the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Festival of the Stars. But they also believe in having fun, and that’s where programs like annual employee appreciation week and in-house quiz bowl come into play.
In addition to biannual, company wide surveys, we continually reach out to employees directly as individuals and groups for feedback. We always seek ways to improve; it is our driving force.
