ACHE Announces 2 Promotions (Movers & Shakers)

Teressa Brown has been named the new vice president and provost of the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education in Fort Smith. Brown was the founding dean of the ACHE School of Physical Therapy, where she guided the program to full accreditation and ensured its growth and excellence. In addition, Christopher Smith has been named the assistant provost and director of diversity, equity and inclusion at ACHE. Smith joined ACHE in 2022 as the director of DEI, bringing more than seven years of experience in higher education and DEI-related fields.


Christian Gross (Baptist Health)

Christian Gross, vice president of operations at Baptist Health-Fort Smith and Baptist Health-Van Buren, has become a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a national professional society for health care leaders.


Marjan Boerma (UAMS)

Marjan Boerma has been invested in the J. Thomas May Distinguished Endowed Chair in Oncology by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy in Little Rock. Boerma is the director of the UAMS College of Pharmacy Division of Radiation Health and associate director of basic science in the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.


White River Health of Batesville has added five providers to the medical staff, including Alison Lawhorn and Dr. Andrew Curley to WRH Behavioral Health; Dr. Cody McLeod to WRH Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine; Dr. Joel Ubeda to White River Health Surgery Clinic, specializing in urology; and Dr. Ryan Holt to the WRH Women’s Clinic. 


Steven Webb (White River Health)

In addition, Steven Webb has been hired as chief operating officer by White River Health. He will work closely with the president and CEO, Gary Paxson.
