Carlen Hooker, senior vice president of business solutions at Acosta of Bentonville, was one of four Acosta executives recognized as Progressive Grocer’s 2016 Top Women in Grocery. The award recognizes the integral role women play in all areas of the retail food industry. Hooker was honored for her new business solutions and analytical services that have helped both clients and Wal-Mart stores build their business.
Hooker has more than 15 years of management experience, formerly working for Novartis as director of category management and shopper marketing, TracFone Wireless as senior vice president of the Wal-Mart team and Sun Products Corp. as vice president of Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club. Hooker joined the Acosta sales and marketing team in 2015 and continues to demonstrate her commitment to improved efficiency and effectiveness in her work.
A 1991 Michigan University grad, Hooker received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and communications, going on to obtain her MBA at the University of Arkansas in 2002.
Walmart Transportation and Wayne Smith Trucking were both named the Safest Trucking Fleets at the Arkansas Trucking Association Advocacy & Awards luncheon in Little Rock.
Walmart Transportation, a private trucking fleet in Bentonville, received first place in the private fleet large carrier division, and was recognized for logging over 19.4 million miles on Arkansas highways in 2015, with only four reportable accidents.
Wayne Smith Trucking, a dry van truckload carrier based in Morrilton, received first in the truckload van and reefer division, with no reported accidents in over 5.8 million miles.
