The Arkansas Economic Development Commission on Monday named Mitch Chandler to a new position, director of executive communications.
Chandler, most recently sales director for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, will earn a salary of $109,588.34 — the same as earned at the lottery, according to AEDC. Chandler will oversee public relations activities in the new role.
His hiring marks a return to AEDC, where he previously served as communications director from November 2003 to February 2007.
Mike Preston, AEDC’s executive director, said Chandler brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to AEDC that will be an asset in helping attract and expand business in the state.
“Through his previous experience at AEDC and during his travels on behalf of the lottery, Mitch has learned first-hand what communities and business leaders throughout the state need from AEDC,” Preston said in a news release. “He is also an outstanding strategic communicator and will elevate our efforts here.”
Chandler said he is honored to return to the agency, which promotes Arkansas to businesses throughout the world.
“I have a passion for economic development,” Chandler said. “The mission of AEDC is extremely important, and I’m honored to be part of helping provide good-paying jobs for Arkansans.”
Chandler, who has also worked in local television, previously worked for the Little Rock Regional Chamber and Little Rock marketing and advertising firms Martin-Wilbourn Partners Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods.
