Ronald W. Lazenby’s RWL Investments LLC, which filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year, is now selling its most famous property, the Villa Marre, which was featured in the 1980s CBS sitcom “Designing Women.”
The home is listed for sale $950,000 by real estate agent Tony Curtis of Little Rock.
RWL bought the house at 1321 Scott St. for $480,000 in late December 2011. The first floor was available for weddings, parties and other events, while the upstairs served as office space for Lazenby’s real estate investing business.
Arkansas Business reported in March that RWL Investments filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to reorganize $8.6 million in debt. The company filed nine days after Centennial Bank of Conway filed a foreclosure lawsuit against it for defaulting on eight loans totaling $2.6 million.
Built in 1881, the Villa Marre is in Little Rock’s Quapaw Quarter Historic District. The two-story, 4,800-SF home played the role of the Sugerbaker Home in exterior shots for “Designing Women,” which ran from 1986-1993. The sitcom was created by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, whose husband, producer Harry Thomason, is an Arkansas native.
