Associated General Contractors of Arkansas announced that it’s offering specialized safety training courses in Spanish this month, part of its effort to provide resources to the state’s growing bilingual workforce.
The training will be led by Alma Esparza, a safety specialist with Dallas-based TEXO, The Construction Association. It will be held at AGC Arkansas headquarters in downtown Little Rock.
Courses include:
- OSHA 10 en Español: June 23–24, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Price: $125 for members | $200 for non-members.
- Confined Space en Español: June 25, 8 a.m.–1 p.m. 805 W. Second St. Little Rock, Arkansas, 72201
- Trenching & Excavation en Español: June 26, 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Price: $175 for members | $250 for non-members.
Topics covered across the three courses include OSHA standards, emergency protocols, PPE, hazard communication, excavation safety and confined space protocols.
RSVPs are required by Monday, June 16. To register or learn more, contact Mitzi Skinner, safety and training director at AGC Arkansas, at mskinner@agcar.net.
AGC Arkansas is the only organization in the state offering such safety programs in Spanish.
“Providing safety training in a worker’s primary language is about ensuring that vital information is fully understood and applied on the jobsite,” Skinner said in a news release. “This direct approach can significantly enhance understanding, reduce incidents, and contribute to a more effective workforce overall.”
