Andrew “A.B.” Meadors, a former owner of the Meadors Adams & Lee insurance agency in Little Rock, has been chosen to head the Arkansas operations of Sunstar Insurance Group of Memphis.
Sunstar’s presence in Arkansas was limited to an office in Helena until Friday, when Simmons Bank of Pine Bluff announced that it had sold its property and casualty business to Sunstar.
Fifty-four Simmons employees became employees of Sunstar. They have worked for Simmons’ P&C affiliates FSB Insurance Inc., Simmons First Insurance Services Inc. and Simmons First Insurance Services of TN LLC in Little Rock and in six cities in Tennessee.
“I am very excited about the closing of this acquisition, as it significantly expands our market presence in Arkansas and Tennessee,” Sunstar founder David “Casey” Bowlin said in a news release. “Further, it brings the addition of Andrew Meadors to our senior executive leadership team. The Meadors name has meant great things in Arkansas insurance for generations. We couldn’t be more proud to have him on board with us.”
Meadors last year sold his half interest in Meadors Adams & Lee to his partner, Roberts Lee.
“Sunstar has been doing some impressive things, quickly becoming a regional powerhouse to be reckoned with. I’m looking forward to being both a player and coach on this team,” Meadors said in the release. “Everybody loves a good comeback story, and it’s great to be back in the insurance industry.”
Marliese Kerr remains in the role of chief administration officer for Arkansas, and Henry Jordan is President of Sunstar-First Delta Insurance in Helena.
