The population of Clark County, which includes the incorporated communities of Arkadelphia, Amity, Caddo Valley, Gum Springs, Gurdon, Okolona and Whelen Springs, is more than 23,000.

Arkadelphia, which has a population of nearly 11,000, is the largest community in Clark County and the county seat. Home to four-year universities Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist, Arkadelphia offers outstanding educational opportunities, including two accredited business schools.

Southern Bancorp and Summit Bank, two of Arkansas’ 10 largest banks with assets of more than $1 billion each, are headquartered in Arkadelphia, which offers a diverse workforce that supports a variety of businesses ranging from major manufacturers to technology service firms.

The Arkadelphia/Clark County community offers a competitive business environment and incentive programs at both the state and local level. The area continued to support economic growth with the passage of a ½ cent economic development sales tax in 2007.

For recreation, DeGray Lake offers a full-service marina for boaters, an 18-hole course for golfers as well as camping, fishing and swimming.
