This week’s list of the state’s oldest companies — 252 that have been operating in Arkansas for at least 100 years — starts here.
There are some agricultural businesses on the list — including E. Ritter & Co., the curious Marked Tree farm-and-telecom combo featured here — but farms haven’t really made their way onto our list.
Farms that have been worked by members of the same family for more than 100 years are, however, being documented and recognized by the Arkansas Agriculture Department’s Century Farms Project.
The AAD tells us that 83 farms completed the documentation process in 2012, the program’s first year.
