Arkansas Airports Get $1.4M in Grants

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded more than $1.4 million in federal grants to airports and airfields in Arkansas to offset costs and maintain jobs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The grants will also fund increased sanitization at grantee facilities.

The DOT, through the Federal Aviation Administration, is distributing the money appropriated through the Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act, which Congress approved in December.

Texarkana Regional-Webb Field (Miller County) received $1.02 million, while Drake Field (Washington County) received $57,162.

The following grantees each received $23,000:

  • West Memphis Municipal (Crittenden County).
  • Saline County Regional (Saline County).
  • South Arkansas Regional at Goodwin Field (Union County).
  • North Little Rock Municipal (Pulaski County).
  • Batesville Regional (Independence County).
  • Bentonville Municipal/Louise M. Thaden Field (Benton County).
  • Baxter County Airport (Baxter County).

The following grantees each received $13,000:

  • Smith Field (Benton County).
  • Morrilton Municipal (Conway County).
  • Hope Municipal (Hempstead County).
  • Russellville Regional (Pope County).
  • Sheridan Municipal (Grant County).
  • Pocahontas Municipal (Randolph County).
  • Melbourne Municipal – John E Miller Field (Izard County).
  • Clinton Municipal (Van Buren County). 
  • Pine Bluff Regional/Grider Field (Jefferson County).
  • Corning Municipal (Clay County).

The following grantees each received $9,000:

  • Bearce Airport (Montgomery County).
  • McGehee Municipal (Desha County).
  • Harrell Field (Ouachita County).
  • Ralph C Weiser Field (Columbia County).
  • Clarksville Municipal (Johnson County).
