Arkansas Capital Corporation has received certification as a Community Development Financial Institution, it announced Tuesday.
The exclusive designation as a CDFI was made by the U.S. Department of Treasury Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. A CDFI is a specialized financial institution working in market niches underserved by traditional financial institutions, according to a news release.
Since 1957, ACC has provided alternate sources of funding for startup and expanding small businesses in underserved areas of Arkansas. Since 2000, the organization and its affiliates have directly provided more than $464.4 million to Arkansas businesses and an additional $917.6 million from other sources.
“We are honored to have received the CDFI certification and with it we will continue to partner with traditional private capital and public entities to provide funding to small businesses throughout Arkansas,” said Sam Walls III, COO and President of Arkansas Capital Corporation.
