1 min read

Arkansas Children’s has hired Brent Thompson to lead its legal services division as senior vice president and chief legal officer. He starts work on Jan. 7.

Thompson is currently chief legal officer for Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, North Carolina, which has more than 900 licensed beds and 6,000 employees. He also worked as assistant general counsel for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma.

Children’s said his experience gives him an “excellent skillset for helping Arkansas Children’s further strengthen” its legal services division.

“Brent was drawn to our mission of championing children because one of his two sons spent several days in an NICU right after birth,” Arkansas Children’s President & CEO Marcy Doderer said in a news release. “During his son’s stay, Brent experienced the same type of passion for making children better today and healthier tomorrow that is characteristic of our team. We’re excited to welcome this collaborative, mission-minded leader with an inclination for problem-solving.”

Thompson earned his law degree at the University of Tulsa College of Law and is also an alum of University of Oklahoma in Norman. He has experience in litigation, hospital policies and procedures and hospital compliance with federal laws.
