Arkansas Children’s on Wednesday announced that it has raised its base pay from $14 to $15, a move that affects more than 500 employees across the health system.
The system’s board of directors approved the raise to ensure all employees, including those contracted through food service and environmental services, earn a living wage, the system said in a news release.
The last raise for entry-level workers was in 2019, when the system increased pay from $10.10 to $14.
“One way we continue investing in our people is by ensuring wages reflect the true costs of living so that our employees can earn what they need to support themselves and their families,” Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer Crystal Kohanke wrote in a memo to employees.
The state’s minimum wage is $11.
“We believe a living wage is essential,” Arkansas Children’s President and CEO Marcy Doderer said in the release. “At Arkansas Children’s, we want every team member to feel fully supported and fully prepared to help care for sick and injured children. This latest living wage enhancement is part of our ongoing commitment to the team.”
