The Arkansas Community Foundation aims to raise $4 million for Arkansas charities through online donations from the Arkansas Gives event from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Last year’s event raised $2 million for about 350 Arkansas nonprofits.
This year, about 600 organizations are participating, and the nonprofits can earn bonus dollars and matching funds from a $400,000 pool provided by the foundation.
Donations can only be made online and the minimum contribution is $25.
“It’s amazing the impact we can have in one day when we all pull together,” Community Foundation President and CEO Heather Larkin said at a news conference in February. “Imagine Arkansas without its nonprofits — it’s pretty bleak.”
During Arkansas Gives, several events will take place at the headquarters in the AT&T building at 1111 W. Capital Avenue in Little Rock, including a fundraising watch party and food truck fiesta. The food trucks will donate a portion of their profits to charities participating in Arkansas Gives.
