The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette of Little Rock announced in a June 1 letter from Publisher Walter Hussman that it would increase the statewide newspaper’s newsstand prices for the first time in 16 years.
In central Arkansas, newsstand prices went from 50 cents to $1 per single copy of the daily edition of the paper and from $1.25 to $2 per Sunday paper.
Outside central Arkansas, except in northwest Arkansas, the prices were 75 cents daily and $1.50 on Sunday before going up to the new rates, said Dem-Gazette vice president and general manager, Nat Lea.
In northwest Arkansas, rack prices remained 50 cents per daily paper and $1.25 per Sunday edition, Lea said.
