1 min read

National restaurant chain operator Darden Restaurants Inc. of Orlando, Florida, has donated a refrigerated food truck to Arkansas Foodbank in Little Rock to support the nonprofit’s mobile pantry and food distribution programs.

The 26-foot truck, capable of transporting 12,000 pounds of food, is one of 10 the company gifted to food banks across the country in an initiative to help fight hunger. Food banks in Chattanooga, Albuquerque, Toledo and Tulsa are among those that also received a truck.

Each food bank also received $52,000 for food and other needs.

“Across our company, we have a higher purpose to nourish and delight everyone we serve, and that includes the communities where we operate our restaurants,” Rick Cardenas, president and CEO of Darden, said in a news release.

Darden Restaurants operates national chains including Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse and Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen.
