Robin Devan
Dr. Robin Devan of Little Rock has joined Arkansas Hospice as a physician for the central Arkansas area.
Devan has served as an assistant professor of palliative care at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Hospital, as well as director of the UAMS Adult Sickle Cell Clinical Program.
Eric Burgener and Turner Sibley, physical therapists at Conway Regional Therapy Center-Scherman Heights, have been awarded board certification in orthopedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
Burgener is certified in workers’ comp rehabilitation, while Sibley is certified in the Sportsmetrics ACL program, working particularly with athletes. According to the board’s online directory, only 17 physical therapists hold this highly specialized certification in Arkansas.
Dr. Sue T. Griffin, researcher at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Alzheimer’s Association at its International Conference in Toronto.
Griffin was honored for her groundbreaking contributions in the study of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions. She is the Alexa and William T. Dillard professor in geriatric research and director of research at the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging at UAMS, as well as the founding chief editor of the Journal of Neuroinflammation.
Dr. Jerad M. Gardner, assistant professor in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine’s departments of pathology and dermatology, was recently appointed as a deputy editor-in-chief of the Archives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, published by the College of American Pathologists.
Gardner, a board-certified pathologist specializing in dermatopathology and bone/soft tissue sarcoma pathology, will oversee social media strategy and account management for the journal. He joined UAMS in 2012 as a program director of the dermatopathology fellowship program and clinical co-director of the musculoskeletal/skin block for the College of Medicine.
