Arkansas Legal Hall of Fame Inductee: H. David Blair

With over five decades of legal experience, H. David Blair has made significant contributions to the legal community in Arkansas and beyond. As co-founder of the Blair & Stroud law firm, his legal practice spans commercial litigation, medical malpractice, personal injury and products liability. Blair’s work has had a significant impact on his clients, including individuals who have been seriously injured and families of those who have been killed, as well as businesses and financial institutions.

Blair’s educational journey began at Hendrix College in Conway, where he earned a bachelor’s in economics in 1962. He then pursued his bachelor of laws degree and Juris Doctor at the University of Arkansas, Leflar Law Center in Fayetteville, graduating in 1965.

During his time at the University of Arkansas, Blair held the position of editor-in-chief of the Arkansas Law Review, providing him leadership experience that laid the foundation for his future legal career.

Blair was admitted to the Arkansas Bar in 1965 and subsequently to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas in 1966, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

With Robert D. Stroud, partners since 1982, their firm has successfully litigated numerous cases at every level of state and federal court in Arkansas and other states. Throughout his career, Blair has been consistently listed in The Best Lawyers in America publication for his expertise in various areas of litigation, from 1987 to 2013.

Blair has been actively involved in several professional organizations. He served as president of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association from 1978 to 1979 and is a diplomate of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

His contributions to the Arkansas Supreme Court include serving on the Committees on Civil Procedure from 1974 to 1997 and on Jury Instructions from 1985 to 1999, where he was chair from 1990 to 1999.
