Arkansas Mills to Donate 117,000 Pounds of Rice

The Arkansas Rice Federation announced on Wednesday that the state’s rice industry would donate 117,000 pounds of rice, which equates to more than 1 million servings for hungry families, to the Arkansas Food Bank in honor of National Rice Month.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson will proclaim that October is Rice Month at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Governor’s Conference Room at the State Capitol in Little Rock.

The donation will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Arkansas Food Bank, 3801 W. 65th St. in Little Rock.

Participating rice mills are Cormier Rice Mill of DeWitt, Windmill Rice Company of Jonesboro, Riceland Foods Inc. of Stuttgart, Producers Rice Mill of Stuttgart, Riviana Foods of Carlisle, Southwind Rice Mill of Pine Bluff and Specialty Rice Inc. of Brinkley.
