The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (AMFA) announced Monday the receipt of a multi-year grant totaling $450,000 from the Windgate Foundation, as well as a reduced tuition program for the Windgate Art School.
The grant aims to enhance the museum’s educational programs, specifically Windgate Art School classes, and provide funding for programming, marketing and technology support from 2024 to 2026.
AMFA and the Windgate Art School will also launch a reduced tuition program, which will reduce pricing by an average of 17% for more than 100 classes in the upcoming fall and winter terms.
The initiative hopes to ease financial barriers and allow everyone in the community to engage in the school’s art classes, the museum said in a news release. The reduced tuition program is supported by Michael Laughter.
Windgate’s history with AMFA dates back to 1995, and the Windgate Art School has historically benefited from the foundation’s funding.
“The Windgate Art School is AMFA’s cornerstone of learning and artmaking,” Victoria Ramirez, AMFA’s executive director, said in the release. “Through the previous generosity of the Windgate Foundation, we have built an art school with state-of-the-art studios and equipment. This additional multi-year funding will enable the museum to broaden educational offerings and increase outreach, ultimately creating a space where everyone, at any level, can make art.”
Alongside the announcements, AMFA released the lineup of classes for the fall term at the Windgate Art School. Classes include beginner and intermediate levels, independent studies and youth programs.
