Arkansas Surgical Hospital of North Little Rock said Thursday that Chief Operations Officer Brian Fowler had replaced Carrie Helm as CEO on Wednesday.
Fowler was previously CFO. He has also served as president for the Arkansas Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Helm will remain on as executive advisor to the hospital’s board of managers. She joined Arkansas Surgical Hospital in 2008 after years of executive-level experience at other health facilities.
“It has been a privilege to work with such talented surgeons, physicians and staff,” Helm said in a news release. “The hospital has excelled in quality and outcomes year over year. The dedication Arkansas Surgical Hospital’s physicians and staff have to quality, safety and meeting the individual needs of our patients is unmatched in health care today.”
Dr. Scott Bowen, one of the hospital’s owners and chairman of the board, called the leadership change a “natural progression of an effective organization.”
“The leadership team led by Carrie has an effective succession plan in place, and we have been working towards this transition for the last couple of years,” he said. “We appreciate the leadership Carrie has provided and will continue to provide in her new role.”
Arkansas Surgical Hospital offers orthopedic and spine surgery. It has a hospital at 5201 Northshore Drive; an urgent care center on North Hills Boulevard in North Little Rock; and clinics in Conway, Russellville and White Hall.
