Arkansas Trucking Featured in Washington Post Story

1 min read

An item in the Washington Post recently caught our eye, a story on driver retention in the trucking industry.

Forgive us a little chest pumping, but the story features our own Max Farrell, son of Arkansas Business Publishing Group Chairman and CEO Olivia Farrell and former ABPG intern. Farrell’s WorkHound driver retention app is noted in the story.

And Farrell is just one of several Arkansas sources for the story from Post reporter Lydia DePillis. Also quoted are Russell Walker, a driver for Little Rock’s Central Hauling; Arkansas Trucking Association President Shannon Newton; Bobby McElyea, general manager for Central Hauling; and John Coppens, director of operations for Maverick Transportation.

WorkHound, meanwhile, is based in Des Moines, Iowa, where Farrell remains after graduating from Grinnell College and going to work for digital payment startup Dwolla. However, Farrell splits his time between Iowa and home.

He has been active in the Arkansas startup scene, helping launch Startup Weekend and other entrepreneurial events as well as co-founding Little Rock startup Create Reason.

It was through Create Reason, which works with companies to help drive internal innovation, that Farrell began working with the Arkansas Trucking Association and came up with the idea for WorkHound.

In addition to the Post plug, WorkHound’s new driver referral feature was featured in industry pub Fleet Owner.
