1 min read

A one-day online giving program to help Arkansas nonprofits raised $2.3 million from more than 7,500 people on Thursday, the Arkansas Community Foundation said Friday.

A total of 361 nonprofits received money from the ArkansasGives program, which took online donations from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The goal of the program was to raise $1 million.

In addition to online gifts, the Community Foundation contributed $250,000, and First Security Bank of Searcy gave $40,000 in prize money for nonprofits that raised the most money.

Also, Jane Hunt Meade provided $10,000 for prizes for the nonprofits that raise the most money in several categories. Prize winners will be announced next week.

“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of Arkansans,” Heather Larkin, CEO of Arkansas Community Foundation, said in a news release. “This has been a landmark day for nonprofits in our state.”

Online gifts made through ArkansasGives.org will be used by the 361 nonprofits for community causes statewide.
