The national pundits say that Arkansas didn’t have quite the haul expected from a Top 10 college football team, but Bobby Petrino and his coaching staff seemed happy with the student-athletes they did get.
Despite the turnover this winter on the staff, the Razorbacks seemed to upgrade on the defensive side of the ball. They lost no defensive prospects in the final month of recruiting and actually managed to add two players that at one time or another were committed to Southeastern Conference rivals.
The buzz in Jonesboro was intense as Coach Gus Malzahn announced his new recruits at Arkansas State. Pulaski Academy quarterback Fredi Knighten was one of the highlights of the Red Wolves’ Class of 2012.
To hear a simulation of what Knighten may have heard in his living room recently, click here to see a clip from ESPN where Malzahn goes through the motions of what’s said and shown on these recruiting visits.
UCA’s Clint Conque announced the signings of 23 new Bears. Other schools that featured their latest additions included Arkansas Tech, Harding, Henderson State, Ouachta Baptist and UA-Monticello.
Finally, our friend and former co-worker Johnny Goode died Thursday morning at the age of 52. Goode was an account executive at Arkansas Business Publishing Group for over 20 years and helped sell ArkansasSports360.com from its beginning in 2007.
Last year, Johnny talked about his round of golf at Augusta National in the "In the Bag" feature of ArkansasSports360.com’s Executive Golfer Guide. We hope wherever he is now, he’s at least hitting par.
