- A television station in Northwest Arkansas reports Stanford has shown interest in Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long for its open athletic director’s position. Bob Bowlsby left Stanford to become the Big 12 commissioner, leaving a vacancy. KNWA said Long has not responded to inquires.
- Arkansas basketball coach Mike Anderson has announced that junior college forward Coty Clarke has signed to play basketball for the Razorbacks. Clarke, 6-foot-7, 220 pounds, joins the program from Birmingham (Ala.) Lawson State Community College, where he averaged 14.5 points and 13.0 rebounds a game his sophomore season.
- The NFL’s Oakland Raiders have signed former Charleston High School, UCA and Harding University kicker-punter Eddy Carmona to a free-agent contract. Carmona was one of seven free agents to sign with the team last weekend.
