ArkansasSports360.com: UALR Teams Set for First-round Byes in Sun Belt Tourney

The Sun Belt Conference has released the brackets for its tournament beginning this weekend in Hot Springs. The women’s team gets a No. 1 seed and plays on Sunday while the men’s team earns a No. 2 seed, also earning a first-round bye.

The UALR men’s team won the West Division title outright after a 62-60 victory against Arkansas State that didn’t come until the final second of the final regular season game.

Arkansas ended its road losing streak with a 77-71 victory at Auburn. Rickey Scott scored 22 points to lead the Razorbacks, who had been winless away from Bud Walton Arena this season. Arkansas (18-11, 6-8) also lost two games at home after setting an arena record with 17 victories there.

And Gus Malzahn fills in the last hole on his coaching staff with a name familiar in Arkansas.
