Gov.-elect Asa Hutchinson has announced four appointments to various state boards and commissions.
On Thursday, Hutchison appointed Mark Givens to the Parks Recreation & Travel Commission and Robert Reynolds to the Arkansas Pollution Control & Ecology Commission.
Givens is the executive director of Main Street El Dorado, a position he’s held for nine years.
“[Givens’] background and extensive experience in the field of tourism make him a perfect fi, and I know he will do an outstanding job representing south Arkansas and our state in this new role,” Hutchinson said.
Reynolds is president of Shuler Drilling Co. in El Dorado. He’s held the position for 35 years.
“[Reynolds’] breadth of knowledge and experience in the fields of geology, drilling and waste conservation will make him a great addition,” Hutchinson said.
Reynolds’ appointment will not begin until March.
On Wednesday, Hutchinson appointed Alec Farmer to the Arkansas State Highway Commission and Niel Crowson to the Arkansas State Board of Trustees.
During his campaign, Hutchinson promised to appoint Farmer to the commission. Farmer is currently the president of Farmer Enterprises Inc., a family-owned farm and commercial property investment company.
“Infrastructure is a critical part of economic growth and development, and I am committed to working with each region of our state and congressional delegation to support these infrastructure goals,” Hutchinson said in a statement. “[Farmer’s] experience and extensive knowledge of the area will serve northeast Arkansas, the state and our economy well.”
Crowson is the president and CEO of E.C. Barton & Co.
“Arkansas State University’s mission is to educate leaders, to enhance intellectual growth and to enrich the lives around them,” Hutchinson said. “Not only does Niel Crowson embody that mission, but he understands the important role ASU serves in the northeast Arkansas community, as well as the rest of the state …”
