Ashok Subramanian, who is currently the dean and a professor of business at Buena Vista University in Iowa, has been hired as dean of the College of Business at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. Subramanian spent three years as dean of BVU and seven as chair of the Information Systems Department at the University of Missouri. His appointment at UAFS will be effective March 1.
Scott Carter, Larry Kircher, Betty Oliver, Beth Anne Rankin and Bob White have been elected to Ouachita Baptist University’s board of trustees.
Carter is the manager of Long Brothers Oil Co. in Norphlet (Union County), and Kircher was formerly the CEO of Citizens State Bank in Bald Knob. Rankin works for the State Treasurer’s Office as executive director of the Arkansas 529 Gift college savings plan. Oliver formerly served as the staff chair for the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service for Pulaski County, and White is the manager of the Special Services Divisions of Arkansas Underground Protection Service in Conway.
The university’s board members also approved Rachel Jones to be Ouachita’s new director of Career Services. Jones previously served as marketing director for Sodexo, a food services corporation, on Ouachita’s campus.
