AT&T Project Boosts Wireless Coverage at Baptist

1 min read

AT&T has finished installing a Distributed Antenna System at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.

The DAS installation is made up of several antennas that distribute the company’s wireless network to the hospital’s main building, the Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute building and the Hickingbotham Outpatient Center, the company said in a news release.

“Having consistent wireless access for our patients and their families as well as our caregivers is extremely important,” said Greg Crain, vice president and administrator of Baptist Health Medical Center, in the news release. “More than 5,000 people are on this campus daily, which is larger than some towns in our state. Being able to communicate when you’re away from home can help relieve a stressful situation. We deeply appreciate AT&T’s investment in our campus and the help it provides patients and families when they are hospitalized.”

The DAS installation is part of the company’s Velocity IP project, which was announced in 2012, and provides enhanced wireless coverage in highly trafficked areas. The company finished a similar installation at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences campus in 2013.
