Attorney Matthew Henry Gets Out of JailLock Icon

1 min read

Former Little Rock Attorney Matthew Henry finally walked out of the Pulaski County jail last month.

Henry had been behind bars since March 22 for civil contempt after Pulaski County Circuit Judge Mackie Pierce ordered him in January to return $25,000 of his client’s money. When Henry failed to pay, he was sent to the slammer.

Pierce released Henry from the civil contempt order on Sept. 17.

But Henry probably isn’t celebrating, because he has more legal problems. Last month he waived indictment and pleaded guilty to wire fraud in U.S. District Court in Little Rock in connection with stealing more than $400,000 from a client.

Henry, who operated the Henry Firm, used his client’s money for business and personal expenses, according to the information sheet filed.

The former attorney, whose practice area included real estate, has to return to federal court in Little Rock on Feb. 20 for sentencing by Judge D.P. Marshall Jr.
