Arkansas Tech University in Russellville announced Thursday that Mary Gunter, who has been on its faculty since 1998, has been promoted to interim chief of staff.
She began working in that role and at the Office of the President on Tuesday.
Gunter, Ph.D., is a professor of educational leadership and was the driving force behind the design and implementation of the first doctoral program in the university’s history. She has served as dean of the Graduate College since 2009 and as dean of the College of Education since 2015.
Linda Bean will now serve as interim dean for the College of Education, and Jeff Robertson will be interim dean for the Graduate College. Robertson will also continue as dean of the College of Natural & Health Sciences.
Searches to fill the roles Gunter is leaving will be launched in the spring.
Gunter will also serve on the ATU Executive Council and succeeds Jeff Mott, who had been chief of staf since September 2015 and will leave by the end of the 2017-18 fiscal year. He will stay for the spring semester to ensure a smooth transition.
