Audit Reveals Growing Sunday Readership for the Democrat-Gazette

1 min read

The Audit Bureau of Circulations recently released audience data for the newspapers subscribing to its audit service.

The audit shows circulation numbers for newspapers across the U.S. for the six months ending March 31, and the trend line was — believe it or not — up  slightly.

The audit reveals that the statewide daily Arkansas Democrat-Gazette of Little Rock saw Sunday readership grow year over year by nearly 3 percent, up to 267,730 readers. The increase in Sunday circulation fit in with a national trend, which the ABC reported as an average increase of 5 percent in Sunday readership. The totals include circulation in northwest Arkansas.

On the other hand, the Democrat-Gazette’s average weekday circulation dropped by about 2 percent, down to 179,258 readers. That drop didn’t reflect the average national circulation increase of nearly 1 percent.

Included in the previous circulation totals, digital versions of the Democrat-Gazette, which charges for online subscriptions, saw average readership of 3,992 on Sundays and 3,982 on weekdays.

The March 2012 ABC report is the first that can be used for a year-over-year comparison that takes into account circulation of digital editions of newspapers.
