U.S. Bankruptcy Court is less crowded now than it has been in recent years.
For the first four months of 2010, 5,715 bankruptcies were filed in Arkansas, according to numbers on file with the Arkansas bankruptcy courts. But during that same time in 2011, the filings slowed to 5,163.
Now it’s dropped even more to 4,494 in the first four months of this year; that’s off 21.36 percent from 2010 figures.
The numbers look good for the nation as well. For the 12-month period that ended March 31, the number of filings was 1.37 million, down 13 percent from the 12-month period that ended in March 2011. Those are the latest stats from our friends at the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
