Bellwether Investment Group LLC, a registered investment adviser based in Chattanooga, has moved adviser Mark Massey back to his hometown of Little Rock to aid the firm’s expansion into Arkansas.
Formerly based in Memphis, Massey joined Bellwether late last year after spending several years at UBS Financial Services. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1984 and earned a law degree in 1989 from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis.
Massey will be one of two Bellwether associates at the firm.
“Mark Massey is an excellent addition to our team of fee-based portfolio managers,” said Sandy Maddox, a managing partner at Bellwether. “We believe Little Rock is where he will thrive.”
Maddox said Bellwether’s goal is to reach $500 million in assets under management, with more than $200 million set to be obtained by the end of the year. As of now, the firm has approximately $130 million.
“The overlap of Bellwether’s focused move to grow the assets under management of the firm with talented and knowledgeable established financial advisors through a completely fee-based platform aligns well with my personal growth plans and enables me to deliver additional value-added services to my clients while providing me the freedom to truly manage investments to suit my clients’ needs,” Massey said in the press release.
In addition to Chattanooga, Bellwether has offices in Gainesville, Georgia, and plans to spread throughout the Southeast, Maddox said.
