Ben Amick Named Associate Dean At UAMS College

Ben Amick, Ph.D., has been named the associate dean for research of the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Amick comes to UAMS from the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work at Florida International University, where he had served as professor and chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management since 2013. He was also the college’s director of public health from 2014-16. 

Before that, Amick was a professor of behavioral science and epidemiology at the Texas School of Public Health. 

He served as a senior scientist for the Institute for Work and Health in Toronto from 2007-18. Also, he has been a reviewer for the Council on Education for Public Health, which is the accrediting body of the College of Public Health. 

Amick received two undergraduate degrees from the University of Maryland in 1978. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health in 1986, and also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in epidemiology at Yale School of Medicine in 1992.
