Founded in 1991, Optus Inc. has expanded its reach nationwide to compete against much larger companies in the technology space. Officials say the firm’s commitment to customers and the staff team has driven this growth.
Internally, Optus combines work and fun with monthly goal celebrations, such as breakfast cereal bars, and chips and salsa bars. Quarterly food truck and world culture days add to the camaraderie.
Recognition is key, with quarterly awards for the top five performers, complete with time off, $100 prizes and social media shoutouts. Employees are also celebrated with plaques adorned with medals for bragging rights for their special achievements.
On the benefits side, Optus offers 96% medical coverage for employees and 68% for dependents, funds HSA accounts, and provides extensive employee assistance programs. And the company has a diversity, equity and inclusion committee that organizes events like Black History Month and Women’s Day.
Despite industry changes expected to impact some roles, the firm leaders remain transparent and supportive, offering career counseling and frequent updates: “It’s the tough years that prove a company’s culture,” they say.
