The Arkansas Federal Credit Union (AFCU) is dedicated to giving back to the community and its employees. Its foundation is built upon providing team members with the tools to do their job well, building strong work relationships and offering development opportunities. By taking care of employees, AFCU in turn gives members and business partners the ultimate experience.
One way AFCU takes care of its employees is with its 401(k) match. AFCU contributes a discretionary match equal to 100 percent of the first 1 percent of the employee’s income contributed, and 50 percent of the next 5 percent contributed. With its Defined Benefit Program, AFCU contributes 5 percent of annual salary, plus accrued interest at the time of retirement. Employees are fully vested in the program after three years.
After the first month of hire, employees are allowed to join the company’s health care plan. AFCU pays 100 percent of the premium for employees’ medical and dental coverage and long-term disability benefits. The company also matches Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions up to $800 depending on the type of coverage. In addition, it offers a hospital plan, cancer plan, legal and identity protection and a portable life insurance plan.
AFCU employees are given 48 hours of volunteer time each year. These hours can be used to volunteer at a nonprofit that’s important to them.
The company offers tuition reimbursement, on-site training, opportunities to attend conferences and leadership trainings and the chance to job-shadow other employees. AFCU also offers a mentor program with the goal of transferring knowledge, building networks and developing tomorrow’s leaders.
